SEO strategy

Strategy is deciding what not to do. Most sites are trying to rank for terms they will never win, while ignoring the ones they could own within a year. We work out which is which for your business, and set out the order to tackle them in.

Where you can realistically win

We look at the terms your customers use, the sites currently ranking for them, and the gap between those sites and yours in content and authority. Some of that gap closes in months and some of it does not close at all. Knowing which is which is most of the value.

A plan with an order to it

The output is a prioritised roadmap: which pages to write, which to merge, which technical work to do first, and what to measure. It is written so your team can execute it without us, and we will tell you which parts genuinely need an agency.

Tell us what you sell and who you compete with online. We will tell you where the realistic opportunities are before you commit to anything.

SEO agency FAQs

Is strategy separate from doing the work?

Yes. The strategy stands on its own and you can hand it to any agency or an in house team. We quote for delivery separately.

How far ahead should a strategy look?

Twelve months, reviewed quarterly. Search changes often enough that a three year plan is fiction, and often enough that an unreviewed plan goes stale.

Do we need to publish constantly?

No. Publishing volume for its own sake creates thin pages that compete with each other. Fewer, better pages, properly maintained, outperform a high output schedule for most businesses.

What if we are in a very competitive sector?

Then the honest answer is usually to go narrower first, win the specific terms nobody large is bothering with, and build from there.

How do you measure it?

Enquiries and revenue where we can attribute them, rankings and traffic where we cannot. We report against the plan, including the parts that did not work.
