Brand management
An identity starts to fray as soon as other people use it. A new starter stretches the logo, a printer substitutes a colour, an agency picks a different typeface. Brand management stops that drift. Vanilla Rain takes on that job for businesses that want consistent material without an in-house brand team, whether they are next door in Newbury, West Berkshire, or several counties away.
The work covers writing the rules, building the templates people use every day, checking artwork before it is printed or posted, and producing finished items across print and digital. Alistair handles it personally, so one person knows your brand in detail and answers every question about it.
What brand management covers
Guidelines people will read
A brand guide explaining logo use, colour, type, imagery and tone through clear examples, written for the staff and suppliers who will use it rather than for a shelf.
Templates for everyday material
Editable templates for letters, proposals, reports, presentations and social posts, built so your own team can fill them in and update them without breaking the layout.
Artwork checks before release
New adverts, brochures, signs and posts are checked against the guidelines before they are printed or published, with specific corrections rather than general comments.
Roll-out across every format
The identity applied consistently to stationery, signage, packaging, social media, adverts and presentations, with print-ready and screen-ready files produced for each.
Production artwork
Correctly set-up files for printers and sign makers, with bleed, colour profiles and specified Pantone or CMYK values, in the formats each supplier asks for.
Keeping material current
A record of what material exists, which versions are current and what needs updating, so out-of-date brochures and old logos are retired rather than quietly reused.

Newbury, West Berkshire and further afield
Brand management is continuous, which suits a working relationship with someone nearby. Businesses in Newbury, Hungerford, Wantage and Didcot can arrange regular review meetings on site, with artwork checks and template updates handled online in between. Teams in Swindon, or anywhere else in the country, can have the same arrangement run by video call and email.
Common questions
Is brand management a monthly arrangement or a one-off job?
It can be either. Some businesses commission guidelines and a template set as a single project. Others want artwork checked and new material produced throughout the year, and agree a written scope that covers it. Either way, the cost is fixed and known in advance.
Our brand guidelines already exist. Can you work from them?
Certainly. Alistair will read them, point out gaps and rules that are being ignored in practice, and work to them. If the guidelines need revising, that is quoted separately, and you decide whether it is worth doing.
Can you deal with our printers and sign makers directly?
That is a normal part of the work: supplying finished artwork straight to your suppliers, answering their technical questions and checking proofs before a run goes ahead. It saves your team from acting as the go-between.
Will our staff be able to use the templates without help?
That is what they are for. Templates are built with fixed brand elements and clearly marked editable areas, and come with short written notes on using them. If something proves awkward once your team is working with them, Alistair can adjust the template.
